Skip Beat!- Personal Review 8/10

An entertaining and honest portrayal of an angry yet gullible female

Quick TLDR

(Here I will try to keep it generally short and obscure for people who want to watch it knowing nothing)

• It is an entertaining Shoujo show focusing on adult life and struggles

• It shows the lives of Idols and Actors in an interesting and funny way

• It mixes between comedy and seriousness but can be extreme and unnatural for both

• The art is not great but bearable for its age

• It offers wide range of emotional topics and scenes

• It feels like they wanted to offer an entertaining show while keeping many parts to the Manga

• You will notice that many topics was brushed over even that they are critical to the story

• It ends with "Continues in the Manga" ending so do not hold your breath

Watch if you want a unique and entertaining Shoujo Comedy show

The Review

(I will keep it limited to the first episode in terms of spoilers while discussing the general feeling of the show)

This show is Comedy Shoujo about a girl who gets handed a bad hand in life, and in the most emotional moment of her life, where normally someone would just breakdown in tears, she otherwise just snaps in Anger.

This show gives an interesting perspective of a Realistic-ish Angry female, rather than the soft types you would expect in a shoujo, still she is kinda soft, cute and girly, but she has quite the temper.

In moments of betrayal where people break, she just gets Tougher, and Angrier...

The Good: It is extremely entertaining, and offers wide range of interesting moments and stories. And even though it is mainly a comedy, it has a lot of incredibly heartbreaking moments, it can get really emotional. And when I say Emotional, it is not just Romantic or Sad feelings, its main thing is ANGER, and boy does it have a lot of moments where you will get as Angry as her.

As a comedy it has many funny and moments and the setting works will as a comedy.

The main story is entertaining even though they do not focus on the plot and put all of the effort into the Main Characters which works fine.

The Bad: This show started a 10 for me, the character is amazing and unique yet normal, but after few of her Snaps! you will notice that they always use the Comedy card to get her out of the situation, normally you expect an Angry person to do a mistake or hurt themselves in a way or another, for her she just gets from 0 to 100, then to 0 again without any effect on her mentality, just because they shaked her anger off in a comedic way.

As for the general feel, the emotional moments are masterful, and the Comedy is incredibly entertaining, but they do not work will together, you will genuinely feel tired from being heartbroken in a moment then laughing in the other right after it.

Even though its a character oriented show, they do a poor job in continuing characters stories, like you will meet this cool character that has this great moments with the MC, then they will abandon them and move to another subject or character, so if you like side characters, do not expect to see a lot of them after they finish their stories.

Finally, the show is a manga trap, it is extremely entraning, but you will notice that they leave all the plot lines and characters developments incomplete, so if you want to know what happens you will need to go the Manga which is still running since 2002!

Finally: It is a good time both as a comedy and serious show, just don't expect any closure when it comes to plot
